These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cedar ("Cedar," "the App"), a mobile application developed by Seampli LLC ("Seampli," "we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Cedar, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Cedar Privacy Policy. These Terms are specific to Cedar and supplement the general Seampli Terms of Service at seampli.app/terms; where conflicts exist, these Cedar-specific Terms govern for use of the App. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Cedar.
Sauna use, heat exposure, and cold-water immersion carry real and significant health risks. These activities can cause sudden changes in heart rate, blood pressure, and core body temperature, and may result in dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, dizziness, fainting, burns, hypothermia, cold-water shock, drowning, cardiac arrhythmia, heart attack, or stroke. The combination of heat and rapid cold exposure ("contrast therapy") places particular stress on the cardiovascular system.
Cedar provides timers, logs, and history only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or provide individualized medical guidance for any condition, and it cannot detect, monitor, or respond to a medical emergency. Before beginning any sauna, heat, or cold-immersion practice, consult a licensed healthcare professional who is familiar with your personal medical history.
Before you can use Cedar, the App presents a Health Notice screen that requires you to (a) confirm you are at least 18 years of age, and (b) check a box affirming you have read and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. The "Get Started" button is disabled until both confirmations are made. Cedar records the date and version of these Terms accepted at first launch.
By checking the acceptance boxes, tapping "Get Started," or otherwise using any part of Cedar — including starting or recording a session, viewing your history or stats, or adjusting any preference — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the disclaimers contained within them. You must be at least 18 years of age to use Cedar. If you do not meet this age requirement, or if you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App and uninstall it from your device.
If these Terms are materially updated after your initial acceptance, you may be asked to review and accept the revised version before continuing to use Cedar.
Cedar does not provide medical, physiological, therapeutic, or wellness advice. Nothing presented in the App — including timers, default values, suggested ranges, environmental inputs, history summaries, statistics, notifications, or any other content — is intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always seek the advice of a qualified physician or other licensed healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, your suitability for sauna or cold exposure, or any health-related decision. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read, saw, or did in Cedar.
Cedar is a general-purpose consumer wellness app. It is not a medical device and has not been evaluated, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), or any other regulatory authority. Cedar does not perform medical-grade measurements, does not monitor physiological signs, does not measure water or air temperature, and does not detect, diagnose, or alert you to medical emergencies, dangerous environmental conditions, or unsafe water depth or quality.
Do not rely on Cedar for medical decisions, environmental safety judgments, emergency response, or in place of medically-supervised care.
Sauna use, heat exposure, and cold-water immersion are significant physiological stressors. Before starting any sauna, heat, or cold-immersion practice — whether traditional sauna, infrared sauna, steam room, ice bath, cold plunge tub, cold shower, open-water swim, or any combination of heat and cold — you agree to consult with a licensed healthcare provider who has access to your complete medical history. This is especially important if you take prescription medications, have any chronic condition, or have ever been advised to avoid extreme heat, cold, or rapid changes in body temperature.
Do not use Cedar to guide a sauna or cold-immersion practice — and consult a qualified healthcare provider before any use involving heat or cold exposure — if you are or may be in any of the following categories:

You expressly acknowledge and agree that any sauna, heat, cold-immersion, or related activity you undertake while using Cedar is done at your own risk, by your own choice, and under your sole responsibility. You assume all risks of personal injury, illness, drowning, burns, frostbite, adverse health events, and any other consequences that may arise from such activities, whether foreseeable or unforeseeable.
Seampli LLC is not responsible for any harm — including but not limited to heat exhaustion, heat stroke, burns, hypothermia, cold-water shock, drowning, slips and falls, fainting, fractures, dehydration, electrolyte disturbance, cardiac arrhythmia, heart attack, stroke, seizure, medication-related complications, pregnancy-related complications, psychological distress, damage to personal property or electronic devices, or any other adverse outcome — that you may experience before, during, or after any sauna, heat, or cold-exposure activity, whether or not Cedar was running at the time and whether or not the activity was logged in the App.
If you experience any adverse symptoms during or after sauna or cold exposure — including but not limited to dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, fainting, severe headache, blurred vision, nausea, shaking or tremors, numbness, sudden weakness, slurred speech, skin that is unusually red, pale, blue, or numb, or any other symptom that concerns you — exit the sauna or water immediately and carefully, cool down or warm up appropriately, hydrate, and seek medical attention if symptoms persist or worsen. In the case of a medical emergency, call emergency services in your region (e.g., 911 in the United States). Do not delay seeking care because Cedar shows an ongoing or incomplete session; the App has no awareness of your physical condition or environment and cannot determine whether it is safe for you to continue.
Cedar strongly encourages safe practice. You agree that you are solely responsible for the safety of your environment and conduct, including without limitation:
Cedar does not enforce, verify, or supervise any of the above. The App's session timers and prompts are convenience features only.
Cedar does not require you to bring your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or any other device into a sauna, steam room, infrared cabin, ice bath, cold plunge, or any wet, hot, or humid environment in order to use the App. You can start a timer before entering and stop it after exiting. We do not recommend bringing your device into these environments.
Apple devices are designed for typical consumer environments and are not built for sustained exposure to the temperature, humidity, or submersion conditions characteristic of sauna or cold-plunge use. Apple's limited warranty generally excludes liquid damage, heat damage, and damage from environments outside published operating specifications. Bringing a device into a sauna, steam room, infrared cabin, hot tub, ice bath, cold plunge, or open water can cause condensation damage, screen damage, battery failure, sensor failure, corrosion, water ingress, or total device loss, and may void your warranty.
If you choose to bring your device into any sauna, heat, cold-immersion, or wet environment, you do so entirely at your own risk. Seampli LLC is not responsible for any damage to your device, accessories, or any data on the device — including but not limited to heat damage, condensation damage, water damage, battery failure, screen damage, sensor damage, corrosion, or total device loss — arising from such use, regardless of whether Cedar was running at the time and regardless of any feature, prompt, or convenience offered by the App.
You are solely responsible for understanding your device manufacturer's environmental specifications, ingress-protection ratings, and warranty terms before exposing your device to any environment.
Cedar may display general information about sauna types, heat, cold exposure, contrast therapy, hydration, and related topics. This information is provided as general consumer education, reflects widely discussed concepts in the wellness literature, and may not be accurate, complete, or current for your individual situation. Scientific understanding of heat and cold exposure continues to evolve, and individual responses vary significantly. Do not treat any content in Cedar as definitive scientific fact or medical guidance.
Timer accuracy is limited by the iOS platform. Notifications and on-screen prompts may be delayed, missed, or fail depending on system conditions, Focus modes, Low Power Mode, background app refresh settings, signal availability, or other factors outside our control. Do not rely on Cedar timers, notifications, or prompts for time-critical safety decisions.
Subject to these Terms, Seampli grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Cedar for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control. You agree not to:

Cedar is distributed through Apple's App Store and uses Apple-provided frameworks and services. Your use of Apple's platforms is governed by Apple's own terms. We are not responsible for the availability, security, or behavior of Apple's platforms, nor for any downtime, outages, or changes Apple may introduce.
You acknowledge that these Terms are entered into between you and Seampli LLC, not between you and Apple Inc. ("Apple"), and that Seampli — not Apple — is solely responsible for Cedar and its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance, support, warranty service, or any other assistance with respect to Cedar.
In the event of any failure of Cedar to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will, where applicable, refund the purchase price of the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Cedar.
Seampli, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Cedar or your use of it, including but not limited to: (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that Cedar fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; (c) claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar legislation; and (d) any third-party claim that Cedar or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist-supporting" country, and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
You acknowledge and agree that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Violation of these Terms may result in suspension or termination of your access to the App.
All content, software, source code, design, graphics, layout, copy, and other materials in Cedar are the property of Seampli LLC or its licensors and are protected by U.S. and international copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works of any of these materials except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by applicable law. Personal data you enter into the App remains yours.
Cedar is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seampli disclaims all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, and availability. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components, nor that any information in the App is accurate, complete, or suitable for your individual health, environmental, or medical circumstances.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Seampli LLC, its officers, members, employees, contractors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use Cedar, or any sauna, heat, cold-immersion, or related activity, health outcome, or injury associated with such use, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not Seampli has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In no event shall the total aggregate liability of Seampli arising from or related to Cedar exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid Seampli for Cedar in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred United States dollars (USD $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, these limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
By using Cedar, you, on behalf of yourself and your heirs, representatives, and successors, release, waive, and forever discharge Seampli LLC, its members, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, actions, and causes of action — whether known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected — arising out of or related to any sauna, heat, cold-immersion, or related activity, health event, injury, illness, drowning, or harm experienced in connection with your use of the App.
This release applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law and survives the termination of these Terms and your use of the App.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Seampli LLC, its members, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use or misuse of Cedar; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law; (d) your infringement of any third party's rights; (e) any injury, illness, drowning, burn, frostbite, or other consequence resulting from any sauna, heat, cold-immersion, or related activity undertaken while using or after using the App; or (f) any damage to your device, accessories, property, or data resulting from your decision to bring a device into a sauna, steam room, cold plunge, or any other environment outside the manufacturer's published specifications.
Cedar is currently offered free of charge. The App contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paid tiers, and no advertising. Seampli does not collect payment information from you.
If paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases are introduced in a future update, the applicable terms (including pricing, billing, renewal, and refund handling through Apple) will be presented in the App and on the App Store before any purchase, and these Terms will be updated accordingly. Until that happens, this section reflects the App's full commercial state.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Cedar at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful to Seampli, to the App, or to other users. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including the medical disclaimers, limitation of liability, release, indemnification, and governing law clauses — shall survive.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or related to these Terms or Cedar shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts. To the extent permitted by law, you waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding against Seampli.
Seampli LLC shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms, or for any interruption, unavailability, or disruption of Cedar, where such failure, delay, interruption, or disruption is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Such circumstances include, without limitation: acts of God; natural disasters; fire; flood; earthquake; severe weather; pandemic or epidemic; war, terrorism, or civil unrest; government action, embargoes, or sanctions; labor disputes or strikes; failures or outages of internet service providers, hosting providers, or third-party platforms (including Apple's App Store, App Analytics, or iOS services); cybersecurity incidents not caused by our negligence; power, telecommunications, or utility failures; and any other event or condition not reasonably foreseeable or preventable by us.
The failure of Seampli LLC to exercise or enforce any right, remedy, or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right, remedy, or provision, nor shall it affect our right to enforce the same right, remedy, or provision at any later time. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms is effective only if it is in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Seampli, and shall apply only to the specific instance and purpose for which it is given.
We may modify or update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app, through the App Store release notes, or via our website. The current version will always be available at seampli.app/cedar/terms. Your continued use of Cedar after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
